A competitor analysis summary involves analysing the competitor keyword rankings for targeted keywords and reviewing SEO metrics such as domain trust and citation, page and domain authority, total backlinks, linking domains and linking IP. This information is used by search engines to rank your website. They evaluate the relevancy and trustworthiness of the linking sites to the topic being searched. Therefore, the stronger the links, the better chance you have of a higher ranking.

Metadata Improvements

The metadata is key information that you can optimise for search engines to highlight to viewers. This is the first description of your business that users see on the search engine. To maximise the possibility of users clicking on your link it is important to select the information yourself to ensure that it is most effective when the viewers see it. Without selecting them manually, different sections will be automatically pulled out and this is less effective. The meta-titles and the H1 tags are key factors as they are short descriptive pieces of text that search engines pull out of your website. Using keywords can allow search engines to understand the key subject of the page.

Content Optimisation

Optimising the content on the website gives you a better chance of being found by the search engine and being labelled relevant to that topic being searched. The more a topic is mentioned through the use of keywords the easier it is for you to be found. As well as containing keywords, pages also need to contain a minimum number of words which shows that it is more trustworthy and gains authority against competitor links.

The keyword strategy is implemented to help the search engine find you and the relevance of your website to specific topics. This improves the performance, by optimising the keywords to be more effective. The landing page keywords, specifically their games category keywords and game pages keywords are important for search engines to understand specifically what the subject of the pages are.

The Challenge

SOFTGAMES needed to combine 3 websites into one master site therefore had no SEO strategy in place for the combined site. We were approached to design and implement a completely new suitable SEO strategy to target relevant users for more traffic to the website. The strategy was developed based on a lot of research and analysis to ensure that the strategy was suitable for SOFTGAMES to reach the relevant clientele

Our Strategy

Our strategy started with an analysis of the competitor strategy and keyword strategy. This then leads to the development of the keyword strategy specific to their game’s category keywords and game pages keywords. As there was no previous strategy implemented, throughout the review’s issues were found such as lack of backlinking and keyword implementation, missing metadata, and quality of the content.

The next stage was analysing SOFTGAMES competitors and gaining an insight into their SEO, keyword strategy and backlinks. This enabled an understanding of what is required to compete in the market and where they are performing in comparison to the competition. This was important as it gave us a basis of the strategy to be competitive in the market.

We used the analysis to take action by creating an optimised keyword action plan and strategy that retargets the website’s keywords. The plan was made up using recommended keywords which provided primary, service and content management keywords. They are used throughout the website to ensure that it is gaining trust and page authority from the search engines to reach the relevant target.
